NOW, I HAVE A CONFESSION TO MAKE. I used to listen to... I'm sorry about this... HIDEOUS dance music, like 2 Unlimited (ha!) and listen to GOD AWFUL ''gansta'' (c)rap music, like Wu Tang Clan. Please, please, please find it in your hearts somewhere to forgive me...
At least now I like decent (not descent, as my mate Lindsey keeps spelling) music, if that is any consolation. Bands such as these (in no particular order, although Feeder definatley are The Best Band In The World Ever?) :
FEEDER
Now, I'm not lying now, you just have to trust me when I say that Feeder are the best band in the universe. Don't believe me? Well you just smell then, don't you? Or, you could go and check out the webpage and listen to a few of their songs. Or, if you reeeeeally trust me, go out and buy their album, 'Polythene' or EP 'Swim' both of which are awesome and feature the Best Song of All Time?, Descend. I saw them for the first time way back in 1995, when they were supporting Terrorvision. Not very often a support act outdoes the Headliners, is it? Honestly, though, Feeder are cool as poo(which means very good if you are unfamiliar with Doodspeak). Please give 'em a go if you can be arsed. Get 'em famous!
Metallica
No shit. Metallica are cool. They must all be approaching their mid/late thirties by now, but the quartet of James Hetfield (Godlike), Jason Newsted (chin), Kirk Hammett (gay-looking) and Lars Ulrich (spam) are one of the bestest metal bands ever to existed. Starting in 1983(was it?) with an album called 'Kill 'em all' and the success grew from there. My personal fave is the 1991 self-titled 'Metallica' (or 'Black Album', as some stoopid people call it). It features two great songs: Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters. Everyone must have heard or at least heard of, Metallica, but if you haven't, check 'em out. You won't be dissapointed. Oh apart from their 'Load' LP, which sucks ass.
deftones
I never used to like heavy music. Y'know, the reeeeally heavy stuff. That was, of course, until I listened to the Deftones. I don't know what it is, but I just love the music. Kind of a shit argument, I know, but here's an example. Listen to the title track off each album ('Adrenaline' and 'Around the Fur'), respectivley called 'Bored' and 'My own Summer(shove it)'. If you don't like 'em, you won't like Deftones. Sorry, but it's as simple as that.
Limp Bizkit
Now don't hold this against me. I know I made fun of hip-hop and (c)rap music earlier, so when I tell you that Limp Bizkit are a hip-hop metal band you might start sending me hate mail. Well pissing don't, okay? The main reason I dislike more 'usual' hip hop and rap is because the 'music' (if you can call it that) in the background is soooooo repetitive. This, on the other hand, is mental and cool. Yes believe me. Check out the site now for proof. The cover of George Michael's 'Faith' on the album 'Three Dollar Bill Y'all' is wicked!
SilverChair
Silverchair have not had it easy. The main man, Daniel Johns, has suffered from depression a great deal of his life, and is now finally starting to get over it. He shouldn't be depressed though. Silverchair rock. Oh yes. Their first album, 'Frogstomp' sold remarkably well, despite the industry critics referring to them as an awful Nirvana wannabe tribute band. So, on they went to make the second album, 'Freakshow', which is, frankly, just a bit good. 1999 saw the release of their third and latest LP, 'Neon Ballroom', which again, is bloody good. Go see. You'll see I'm right.
